Aimy in a Cage, the Bitcoin-Funded Full-Length SAG Film – Assistant Director/Post-Production Coordinator
in Feature Films,Film
For two years I worked as assistant director and post-production coordinator for the feature length indie film Aimy in a Cage starring Allisyn Ashley Arm (Disney’s So Random! and Sonny With a Chance) and Terry Moore (Mighty Joe Young, True Detective), featuring Crispin Glover (Back to the Future, Alice in Wonderland) and Paz de la Huerta (Boardwalk Empire, Enter the Void).
For over a year in advance, Writer/Director/Producer HOOROO JACKSON and I deliberated over art design, script revision, casting, location, wardrobe, makeup and everything that could be imagined alongside collaborators such as Chloe Barcelou and Walter Stone.
Jackson’s brilliant ideas were manifested on film by an amazing team including DP Daphne Wu, all of whom worked 6 days a week for four weeks in April 2014. As assistant director on set, I was responsible for recovering from logistical dilemmas, crisis aversion and last minute prop procuring in addition to scheduling, catering and negotiating with talent agents and facility management.
In post production I was largely responsible with encouraging Hooroo to pursue his vision of the film and assisting trailer cutting and writing to sales agents / distributors.
The film won the coveted Director’s Prize at its world premier at Portland Film Festival 2015.
Filmed in beautiful 4k on the Sony F55, Aimy in a Cage is currently was released on January 8th, 2016 and is available on most Cable and Online VOD services including Amazon Prime and the Playstation Network.
